The Interview With God Poem
I dreamed I had an interview with God.
“So you would like to interview me?” God asked.
“If you have the time” I said.
God smiled. “My time is eternity.”
“What questions do you have in mind for me?”
“What surprises you most about humankind?”
God answered.
“That they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up, and then long to be children again.”
“That they lose their health to make money, and then lose their money to restore their health.”
“That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live in neither the present nor the future.”
"That they live as if they will never die, and die as though they had never lived.”
God’s hand took mine and we were silent for a while.
And then I asked.
“As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons you want your children to learn?”
“To learn they cannot make anyone love them. All they can do is let themselves be loved.”
“To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.”
“To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.”
“To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in those they love, and it can take many years to heal them.”
“To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least.”
“To learn that there are people who love them dearly, but simply have not yet learned how to express or show their feelings.”
“To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently.”
“To learn that it is not enough that they forgive one another, but they must also forgive themselves.”
"Thank you for your time," I said humbly.
"Is there anything else you would like your children to know?"
God smiled and said,
“Just know that I am here. Always.”

我在梦中和上帝交谈。

上帝问：“你想和我谈话吗？”

我回答说：“假如您有时间的话。”

上帝笑了，“我的时间没完没了。”
“你想问我什么问题呢？”

“人类什么地方最让您惊讶？”

上帝回答：
“他们总是厌倦童年，渴望快快长大，然后又开始渴望回到童年。”
“他们总是为了赚钱付出健康，然后又花钱买回健康。”
“他们总是为未来焦虑，为此忘记了现在，如此一来他们既不是活在当下，也不是活在未来。”
“他们活得好像死亡永远不会到来，死的时候却仿佛这一生只是虚度。”

上帝握着我的手，我们沉默了好一会儿。

然后我问：
“作为天父，您希望您的孩子们学会哪些人生的教训？”

“我希望他们明白，他们无法让任何人爱他们。他们能做的只是让他们自己被爱。”
“我希望他们明白，不要把自己跟别人去比较。”
“在实行宽恕的过程中学会宽恕。”
“在他们深爱的人心中留下深深的伤痕只需要几秒钟，而抚平伤痕却要费许多年的光阴。”
“富有的人不是那些拥有最多的人，而是那些需要最少的人。”
“有许多人深情地爱他们，却只是没有学会如何去表达或者流露他们的情感。”
“两个人也许会望着同样一件东西，他们眼中看见的却截然迥异。”
“我希望他们明白，互相谅解是远远不够的，他们也必须原谅自己。”

“谢谢您腾出时间，”我谦卑地说。
“您还希望您的孩子们知道些什么？”

上帝笑着说：
“希望他们知道我在这里。永远在这里。”

翻译得很好！这是美国的Lily传给我的，她是一个非常虔诚的基督徒。几年前我在美国时与她成了朋友。后来我回国时她送给我一本中英文对照的《圣经》，我翻阅得很少，她则经常发信来规劝我要每天读《圣经》。

《与上帝对话》------我有这本书啊，十几年前买的，在老家的书柜里搁着。
我喜欢这个不需要圣经和教堂，可以直接握着你的手和你交谈的上帝。

被人爱是一种客观结果，无法强求；但是让自己能够被爱是一种自身的努力。

此句话意在强调首先是自身努力能够被人爱，至于是否能够被爱则只能够顺其自然。

——不知是否符合原意？
